“During one of many expeditions to the Arctic in winter, I became fascinated with the ‘daytime.’ The northern lights obviously get a lot of attention (and for good reason) but the midday twilight in a place where the sun barely rises can set the scene for some alien, otherworldly landscapes. This was in Riisitunturi National Park in Finland just below the Arctic Circle.”
