"We were set up on a dirt backroad lined with majestic old oaks for this photograph, one of six for a BMW motorcycle campaign. After our stunt rider made a few practice runs, the creative director turned to me and said, 'Wish we could get him in the air.' That meant we needed something ideally around 20 feet long, at least 24 inches wide with a heavily textured surface, made of steel so as not to flex when the bike hit it going 40 mph, and we needed it now. After gazing around the site I realized we had exactly what we needed; I instructed my crew to detach the loading ramp of our rental truck. We propped up the end with several large logs and proceeded to shoot the rider, who was quite happy to be airborne throughout the morning."
