“At Prologue, we see our designers as storytellers. The Argo opening is not really a title sequence, it’s a prologue. Ben Affleck knew all along he wanted to hire us to set up the story he was going to tell. Our challenge was how depict the history of the Shah of Iran’s abuse of power with the limited stock photography available and no budget for new shoots to capture what really happened. Since the movie is about making a fake movie, we thought it would be interesting to have storyboards and production designs depicting the real events. There was something ironic about having the storyboards because the Shah’s existence itself seemed staged.”
