Responsible for creating the magic behind movies from Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy to District 9 to Krampus to The Hobbit trilogy, Wellington, New Zealand–based special effects studio Weta Workshop has recently expanded into e-commerce with a line of collectible figurines and artwork from films. Created by interactive studio Metajive, a bespoke new site features Weta Workshop’s products in an elegant layout with modern typography. Project stories detail how Weta Workshop created special effects for every film the team has worked on and how its products relate. An intuitive navigation system enables visitors to browse by film title or product type, and a custom CMS enables Weta Workshop not only to update product content, but also tap into multiple inventories and accept multiple currencies.
