“Director Bill Condon wanted the main title sequence for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 2 to feature the film’s stunning setting in the Pacific Northwest. The sequence became about the parallels between winter’s effect on the landscape and Bella’s transformation into a vampire, or ‘cold one.’ Lisa Bolan and Monica Perez combined aerial photography from all the Twilight films and experimental footage of ink, ice and flowers for our storyboards. We shot experiments with frost forming on fake blood, leaves, flowers, branches, etc. The micro and macro study of white snow and frost invading the landscape revealed patterns in nature that mirror the cold, white venom taking over the warm, red blood within Bella's body.”
