The tortured and charred remains of an African Elephant, Loxodonta africana, rest beside a road in northern Botswana. Originally slaughtered for bush meat, the poachers were disturbed before they could dismember the carcass. National Park rangers torched the remains after discerning the elephant was contaminated with Anthrax. This image was captured during a field assignment to Botswana.
