“Published in 2007, Ronnia, one of our first type families, developed into a great companion for our newspaper face Karmina. The name is inspired by the children’s book Ronia, the Robber’s Daughter by Astrid Lindgren. It is a versatile sans serif based on the humanist model with our core focus, editorial design, in mind, where economy and legibility are of utmost importance. We initially made fourteen styles and shortly afterward released another fourteen condensed fonts. It was the first family in which we tried to offer designers a broad typographic palette of fonts, some of which are more suitable for headlines and others that are diffident enough for continuous text and small text alike. The idea was to have a family that supplies friendliness and charm and at the same time is a powerful editorial design tool. Ronnia’s heavier italics were wonderfully used as a display face and for some typographic details in the 2008 book Women of Design, written by Bryony Gomez-Palacio and Armin Vit.”
