Penguin Books commissioned Pentagram London designer Angus Hyland and his team to design this new series of five hardback editions of Virginia Woolf’s major works. The designs reference authentic period elements in an entirely contemporary manner. The dust jackets feature abstract compositions in the spirit of the textile designs of the Omega Workshop (founded by members of the Bloomsbury Group that included Woolf, her sister, Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant). The typefaces consist of Albertus, designed by Berthold Wolpe, and Gill Sans, by Eric Gill—both British typographers of the period.
