"Before the app development craze took off, mobile devices were locked, meaning what you bought was what you got. In a bold move, Nokia unlocked its most sophisticated mobile devices, Nokia Nseries, creating an open platform that enabled users to build customized applications and widgets, coupled with the freedom to choose their own carrier. To spread the word, Nokia's ‘Open to Anything’ campaign was unleashed in the U.S., complete with the powerful symbol of an open lock. The 360-degree campaign utilized many channels during the rollout, including digital, print, events, outdoor and guerrilla marketing to communicate the benefits of Nokia Nseries devices throughout the country."
