Duration: Hired Guns Creative was founded in 2008.

Education: Leif left the Jazz Studies program at Capilano College (now known as Capilano University) just a few credits shy of graduating. He is self-taught in the matters of running a design studio. Richard graduated from the design program at Malaspina College (now known as Vancouver Island University).

Big Break: Even though we had never branded and designed for a winery, Venturi Schulze Vineyards believed in our capabilities. The recognition and credibility we gained from that first winery project opened the door for many more, and gave us the confidence to begin specializing in design for alcohol producers.

Environment: Our studio is located in the old downtown portion of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, just above the China Steps. The studio is bright, open and furnished with an eclectic mix of midcentury modern furniture.

Technique: Richard starts every project with pencil and paper. Original drawings and illustration have become a large part of his process, and a key differentiating factor for our studio.

Philosophy: Great design sells more alcohol.
