“Located on the Ohio River, 30 miles west of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, this power plant was photographed for ‘In the Air: Visualizing What We Breathe.’ Organized by Brian Cohen and funded by the Heinz Endowments, the ongoing collaborative project documents some of the worst air in the United States due to fracking, coal burning and steel production. Exacerbating the problem is the topography of the Ohio River Valley, which creates air inversions that trap polluted air. Fossil fuels are the leading contributors to climate change.”
