“‘Know the forms well before you attempt to make them,’ said E. A. Lupfer, master of this kind of script a century ago. Encouraged by this, I designed the Erotica typeface to follow the essential rules of round hand calligraphy and take them to the extreme. Its letters show a lot of personality and sometimes seem drawn rather than written. The highly contrasted transition from shades to thins had to be really smooth to achieve Erotica’s undeniable sensuality.”
