“Cover art for A Song for Quiet, by Cassandra Khaw. This is the second cover in Persons Non Grata, Khaw’s Lovecraftian horror series. The prompt asked for a saxophonist with the seed of something that can destroy the world growing within him, and every time he plays, he calls forth Lovecraftian horrors. Tentacles are wonderful design elements, much like horns, and I love having them curve and play across images. I imagined the saxophonist as a sort of Cthulhu [a cosmic entity created by writer H. P. Lovecraft] and Pied Piper of Hamelin [a piper who leads a town’s children away].”
