"The Achievement in Radio (AIR) Awards is an annual contest sponsored by the March of Dimes to honor the best in radio. While radio stations had always entered, ad agencies stayed away due to the show's low profile and better options. Mike Shaughnessy said, 'We wanted to use familiar radio symbols and twist them, to make the show seem more prestigious. Glen (the photographer) and I spent a day in Chicago prop-shopping for just the right kind of old-school speakers—nothing too high-tech looking.'"
